So if you want it bad enough, it is possible. I had to respond to every ticket and stick to my guns on it, but they did do it, albeit begrudgingly. However, I have, from personal experience, had ZOS Support unlink an account from Steam nearly 6 months after the fact (one of my alt accounts). ZOS will only "officially" unlink your account from Steam 7 days after the original linking.
